An experience of Luxury beyond value : Mellerio Dits Meller
On the 22nd of November, 2010 the students of the MBA class led by Mr. Jerome were taken to visit the Luxury Jewelry Boutique Mellerio Dits Meller on rue de la paix. It was more than luxury by architecture. We were given a detailed description about the history of Meller and how they established themselves in paris. The Meller family started selling jewelry to the royal family and the most famous being Marie Antoinette and it is interesting to know that they still have royal customers.
In 5 years, they will be celebrating their 200 years of establishment in paris as they were the 1st to open a shop on rue de la paix, which later attracted a lot of competitors. They have pattern rights on a particular cutting of stone which is egg shaped and call it the Meller cut.
The place looks so historical with the jewels that the Meller family had made for aristocratic families dating back 1845(La Taille Mellerio, Broach etc ). They also have the famous sword of Francois Cheng as part of their collection.
We were taken around the place and also treated luxuriously with champagne and soft-drinks. The Meller’s believe in being different and prefer to maintain their image and sell to select cliental.
