Over the last ten years, careers related to the Fashion Industry have changed more than during the fifty previous years. The growth of the leading luxury product companies, the internationalisation of creation and the extent of exchange in the business including the opening of new markets have all transformed the trade and created new and numerous career opportunities. It is in this context that Mod’Art International has built in France its unique bi-cultural education programme equally adapted to Fashion Design and Management. It combines the undisputed French know-how in the Fashion world and the undeniable superiority of the British University programmes and their reputation recognized throughout the world. Mod’Art also offers the unique choice of a French University DU programme combining work experience and seminars all over the Fashion world. AIMS: To train and educate future managers in the International clothing trade, from the buyer to the product manager. CURSUS: A 2 year programme with one year in France and the second year in England or in France. The intensive year in France covers two semesters, including IELTS preparation and two work placements. An end of year report is presented before a jury. The programme is open to students with a minimum of Bac + 2 or the international equivalent, an application file sent and it is required to attend an interview. 1ST YEAR PROGRAMME in FRANCE Fashion products and accessories History of Fashion (from 1900), the fashion ‘houses’ and the creators The development of fashion and the present situation Strategy of the fashion companies (in terms of creation, production, distribution and supply network, and advertising including their manufacturing strategy…..) Fashion trends (research and introspective procedures) Textile technology, material awareness in relation to trends Lexicology of fashion products: range of all the products and their evolution The fashion worlds professional appointments TRADE FAIRS, the Fashion year calendar, the stockist, the service providers, shopping, the different supply network locations, museum visits etc… Languages – English (including specialised fashion terms and texts) and IELTS preparation (minimum 6.5 score for UK admission) – Italian (beginners) Management and Law – Management, accountancy, operating accounts, buying budget, IMPORT/EXPORT (Incoterms) – Law: brand laws (the registration of a trademark and patent), counterfeiting, fair trading and competition, social matters – Selling techniques applied to fashion products Team management: aims and assessments Merchandising and Visual Merchandising – Merchandising: optimum setting off of a shop and its logistics architectural concepts. – Fashion marketing case studies and direct marketing, analysis and study of competitors 2ND YEAR PROGRAMME in ENGLAND Thanks to the agreement between Mod’Art International and its English University partners (London College of Fashion, Westminster University, Nottingham Trent University or the University of Central England (UCE)), students from Mod’Art can apply directly for their BACHELOR (Hons) degree in Fashion Management. The year in ENGLAND deals with Retail Management, Fashion Marketing, Product Management, Team Management with a major personal project. 2ND YEAR PROGRAMME in FRANCE Students spend the year working in a Fashion company (different work contracts possible) and are invited to follow a succession of specialised one week seminars in European Fashion capitals (Paris, London, Brussels, Barcelona, Milan…) even in China. A unique programme because of the mobility of its courses and the professional experience acquired guaranteed by a University diploma (Bac+4, level Master 1) in partnership with Perpignan University and the possibility to complete it with a University MBA qualification.
